Shad Gilley
Shad grew up in church and heard many clear presentations of the gospel as a child. When he was 15, however, he finally understood his own guilt before God, repented, and accepted the gracious offer of Jesus’ righteous life in exchange for his own self-centered life. Upon completing high school, he received a guitar as a graduation gift and spent that summer learning to play with the ambition of leading youth worship. Now many years later, Shad continues to love playing guitar, leading worship, and growing as a church musician. He is usually accompanied by his wife, Ariel, who is a classical pianist, and occasionally by his son, Christopher, who is currently studying cello. Shad and Ariel met in Blacksburg while he was a graduate student in Computer Science at Virginia Tech, and they have been married for over 20 years. They moved to the Richmond area in 2005 and have been serving together as members of Harvest since 2014.
